About The Home Bakers (THB)

About THB
We are a group of home bakers who share the same passion in baking and we love collecting cookbooks! Most of us would probably have tried out about 2 or 3 recipes from some of the books that we own and these books somehow got pushed back till later or kinda forgotten, as we collect more cookbooks along the  way! So at THB, we will bake from one cookbook only, until every recipe has been baked. This will not only fully utilized your cookbook to the maximum, but it will widen your baking skills, and learn more about baking as we share our experiences together. Come join us as we venture into the exciting world of baking right in our own kitchen haven. The challenge of The Home Bakers is to complete every recipe from one chosen cookbook. This will be an easier challenge if we are baking and sharing our experiences together. There's always something new to learn about baking!

The Chosen Book
We are currently baking from "Coffee Cakes" by Lou Seibert Pappas, who has written more than 50 cookbooks. "Coffee Cakes" is a beautiful cookbook with various bakes covering Sunday Brunch Cakes, Everyday Morning Cakes, Savory Picnic Cakes, Bundt Party Cakes and Delectable Dessert Cakes, a total of 60 wonderful recipes. Just by taking a peek at this book, would make you want to bake each and every recipes! To find out more about this book, click here.

The Rules
  1. Firstly, you must own a copy of "Coffee Cakes" by Lou Seibert Pappas.
  2. We will bake once in every three weeks. The chosen recipes and dates of posting will be listed over at the side-bar of The Home Bakers site, look for "Recipe Schedule". Four recipes will be listed at any one time, to enable you to plan your baking, as I understand that time is the factor!
  3. Please do not include the recipe in your post unless you are the host of that chosen bake. You may however put a link to the host's post. If you have made any changes due to unavailability of ingredients or personal preferences, you may put in a note regarding the changes that you've made.
  4. Please post the bakes on the assigned dates indicated, you may post your bakes later but not before the assigned dates. If you are the host of that chosen bake, please post your bake on time as scheduled. Link your post to this site (THB), and leave a comment at the comment section. There will be a thumb-nail linky provided for each bake, just add your link so that our fellow bakers may see your bake and visit you right back. Please do visit each other to share our experiences, to give support and encouragement from one felllow baker to another. The linky will stay open for a month, so if you are late, you still have time to submit.
  5. The selection of recipes will be by members, each member will get a turn at selecting the recipes,  since we are baking this together, it would be nice if everyone gets a chance to select. I will do up a schedule and will send you an email  informing you when it is your turn to select.
  6. Baking is supposed to be fun and enjoyable, not stressful, so this baking event is all about "freedom in baking", meaning that, if you find that you do not have the time to join in the bake, you may join in whenever you can find time to bake again, no problem. But of course, if members can be supportive all the way through, it will be much appreciated, besides, it will be a special accomplishment at finishing the whole book!
  7. There will be a Q&T (Questions & Tips) for each bake, about 10 days prior to the posting of the chosen recipe. Any questions that you would like to ask or tips that you would like to share about that particular bake, please leave all questions and tips at the comment section. Fellow bakers, please feel free to response and advise. At THB, we share our experiences and learn from each other!
  8. The Badge : You may copy the lovely badge and display it in your post and on your side-bar.
